Eagle Scout Project
Eagle Scout Projects facilitate
the youth-orientated leadership and responsibility of Boy Scouts.
In order to earn the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill
requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills.
The Spoil Island Project is a great opportunity to let Boy Scouts
take a leading role in the enhancement of the spoils islands while
helping them meet the requirements of the Eagle Scout rank.
The enhancement of spoil islands requires several steps of progression
over time, and depending on the designated use of the island (recreation,
conservation or education), trails, fire pits, picnic tables, benches,
and kiosks may be designed, constructed, and strategically placed
on the island. However, it is important to identify the designated
use and create a project that will meet those needs. Project description,
planning details, and approval for the Eagle Scout Project
are required before it is implemented. After the troop leader has
the Eagle Scout Project reviewed, send a hard copy to the Spoil
Island Coordinator.
if you are interested in participating please send
an email with your contact information to either the Southeast
or East Central Office Spoil Island
Coordinator
